The Fruit, Cut Flower and Nicer Vegetable Garden

Grapevines on the fences are original to the garden. Varieties include Concord, Niagara, Worden, and Delaware.

The award-winning 800 shrub All-America Rose Selections garden, installed in 1972, blooms from late May through late October. This garden is located in part of the original Fruit, Cut Flower and Nicer Vegetable Garden.

Roses on the arches at the entrances to the AARS garden are original to the garden.

The All-America Seed Selections garden displays this year's winners. A second display garden shows annuals that are good for cut flowers.

Vegetable and flower gardens are maintained by staff and volunteers. Harvest is donated to local food charities.

The Children's Garden is planted and maintained by students and teachers.

Herb gardens display annual and perennial herbs. The gardens are designed to provide easy access to individual plants.

Bloom continues in perennial borders until frost, mid- to late October.

The Greenhouse Gardens

Annuals, perennials, shrubs, and bulbs bloom in the Greenhouse Gardens through the summer.

The Greater Gardens

Resident wildlife and migratory birds depend on the pristine streams and ponds of the Greater Gardens.

Woodland trails are a popular destination for walkers, joggers, birdwatchers, and students in the summer.
